Nature lovers will enjoy the island’s top birdwatching destination with 14 seabird species. You can watch red-tailed birds from November to June and shearwaters between September and May. If you prefer a more organised way to explore, the island offers a variety of guided boat tours. These include snorkelling trips, sunset cruises and whole island tours. For more relaxed activities, cycle through amazing landscapes, enjoy fishing in waters rich with diverse marine life, or play a round of golf on one of Australia’s most beautiful courses. Lord Howe Island offers a range of accommodation, from cosy lodges and guesthouses to beach houses and apartments and inland retreats. Whether you are after ocean views or a quiet place in the nature, you will find the perfect spot! The island has a few local shops within walking distance where you can buy groceries, basic supplies, souvenirs and even maps.
